Sheriff Spencer Riley and his mother recently ordered his big brother Clayton a mail order bride for Christmas! (The Christmas Mail Order Bride, Holiday Mail Order Brides, Book One). Too bad neither one of them bothered to tell Clayton, so imagine his surprise, and Spencer thought it to be one of the funniest things ever...until it happened to him! "After all," his mother told him. "If Clayton can have a mail order bride for Christmas, why can't you have one for New Year's?" So much for the annual scarf and mitten set she usually got for him this time of year! Just what sort of mail order bride was HE going to get? Elle Barstow spent most of her life at Winslow's Orphanage but now it was time to leave and either find a job (of which there were none) become a mail order bride, or take to the streets of New Orleans and hope for the best. Becoming a mail order bride looked like the safest option, but Elle soon learned things don't always go the way we think they will. Unwittingly involved in a horrendous encounter before she leaves New Orleans, Elle can't possibly marry her future husband when she doesn't know if she's considered guilty of murder! She figures her only chance is to avoid the law, not to mention her future husband, until she finds out what really happened. Easier said than done. Her future husband IS the law! Also by Kit Morgan: The Christmas Mail Order Bride (Holiday Mail Order Brides, Book One) Clayton's story! This is the second book I have read in this series... seems I could be getting hooked On Kit Morgan's Holiday Mail Order Brides series. The great challenge Elle, an 18 year old woman ... "coming of age" at an orphanage. Luckily, Elle is headed to the small town of Nowhere. The suspense events had me on pins and needles, the humour had me laughing out loud and chuckling, the reality of being an orphan had me teary eyed and tugged at my heart strings and joyful at the kindred spirits watching over the children . The love and kindness of a wonderful family squished my heart. I enjoyed the town folks and their ways of this period of time. I enjoyed this book very much. .... andlooking forward to the next book, to the next Groom to be swept off his feet when he is least expecting it by I think by another 18 year old woman from the orphanage ... or will it be Charlotte ? ..... for the young male Dr. Quinn returning to Nowhere.

Just the book for a cold winter day. Take one mail-order bride who’s afraid she murdered someone; a reluctant groom who’s also the sheriff; and a town full of other characters. What do you get; a charming romance with enough twists and turns to keep you wondering. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Great book!I love Kit's books. They are fun and romantic with action thrown in. Written for those who prefer less graphic sex, it doesn't deter from the stories at all. I will continue to read her books every chance I get!

Great read!!! I couldn't put it down. I'm happy with the turn of events and hopefully Ms Davies gets better and gets hitched after all her terrible attitude.

I liked the heroine better than the first in the series in some ways. Her insecurities weren't as belabored. All in all, a pleasant quick read.

GoodI think this book deserves three and a half stars, there was not alot of suspense with this book. There was no depth to the main characters in fact the male character seemed rather shallow. The best part was the last thirty pages, there was actually some action. This is an okay short novel to read in between more intense reads. It's light hearted and easy to read!

The New Year's Bride by Kit MorganHoliday Mail-Order Brides Series Book TwoThere is an unusual type of matchmaking going on in Nowhere, Washington Territory. It seems one Mrs. Leona Riley is behind it. Sending telegraphs off to Mrs. Ridgley in New Orleans, who in turn is rescuing newly turned eighteen-year-old women from the local orphanage and offering them the chance to become a mail-order bride. They have few choices in life, so they accept. No scarf and mittens for Sheriff Spencer Riley this year at Christmas. Nope, his ma has ordered him a bride instead. And once he sets his eyes upon the lovely Elle—he's glad to be without the new garments.Elle is happy to be coming to Nowhere, only she is dragging a load full of guilt and fear with her. She had a bit of trouble getting to the train in New Orleans and feels she can't marry Spencer without knowing more about the mess she left behind.Great series so far. The reader gets to revisit the folks they met in book one and the gals from the orphanage get reunited. Plenty of unique characters—good and bad—along with the danger from the lives they left behind in New Orleans and the situations they face in their new home. http://justjudysjumbles.blogspot.com/...

This is book 2 in the Holiday Mail Order Bride series. This time it's Spencer's turn to get a mail order bride that he didn't request thanks to Mom. Spencer is the younger brother of Clayton Riley (from book 1 - Christmas mail order bride) and has just been made Sheriff after Clayton decides to settle back into farming to spend more time with his bride of one week. Elle Barstow lived at the Winslow Orphange in New Orleans (same as Clayton's bride, Summer) and they were best friends. Elle turned 18 and has to leave but someone has other plans for her and she has to leave in a hurry. The summary pretty much gives you much of the plot of this story but I liked the continuation of one families story and involvement with mail order brides. I loved the characters, even the villains (there are plenty in this installment) are interesting. I will definitely continue to read this series and hope that the other characters in "Nowhere" are as entertaining.

This book suffered from many of the grammatical errors that the first book did, but the story was somewhat interesting, even more so than the first one! I liked the fact that Elle was a somewhat spunky heroine, and that Spence was more than match enough for her! I enjoyed how it reunited Summer and Elle with one another and how they caught up one each other's lives, especially with how close they were and were to become. There was even a mysterious cliffhanger at the end of this book that has me wanting to continue with the series, just to find out about it, for without that, I fear I'd be abandoning the series right about now. These books are a somewhat enjoyable and short read, however, these aren't ringing my bells at the 4 star level, so this one will get another 3 stars from me.

Good mail order bride book. This book picks up where the Christmas Bride ended. Spenser Riley was notified in Christmas Day that his mother had placed an order for a bride. She is expected by the new year. Elle was an orphan at the Winslow orphanage and was about to be turned out. She accepted an offer as a mail order bride. While heading to the train she was being chased by some very bad men. She did what she had to do in order to escape. Now she did not know what to do. It is s very good story and avery good series. Love the towns people that carry through each book.

Mrs. Ridley did it againShe ordered another mail order bride this time for Spencer. That conniving Nellie Davis and her hateful daughter Charlotte are back but by the end we see Charlotte changing for the better. My guess is in the next story she may get a new love interest? Let me tell you there was definitely chemistry there between Elle and Susan Spencer. Story made me laugh at parts and at the end there was a moment is suspense. It was a sweet and enjoyable read.

I just love Kit Morgan's books.I love the way this story played out. I loved Elle and Spencer and enjoyed watching their story come together. It was good to "see" Clayton and Summer again as well as the others in Nowhere. I will continue reading books by this author. I would definitely recommend this.

The new year's brideAnother good mail order bride story by Kit Morgan. Elle is on her way to Nowhere, Washington from the orphanage where she has been in New Orleans, but before she even gets to the train station trouble has found her in the form of a man who is trying to get orphan girls to work in brothels and as slaves.

Book two in the Holiday Mail Order Brides series. Orphaned Elle hardly escapes the town of the orphanage she has been in. Did she shoot the bad guy? Did her friend live? Confirmed to be a mail order bride, she shows up to see her intended, Spencer, as sheriff. How can she marry this man when she did wrong? A delightful tale.

The beginning was jarblethe book downloaded repeating pages and was messed up. it was not fixed until over 1/2 the way through. I love the mail order bride series. brings great insight into the struggles of orphans faced back in this time period. it's so sad that over 2100 years later human trafficking is still happening. I'm so glad the books ended the way they did.

Will leave you smilingAt one point in my history of reviews I counted the supposed "quality" or "literary merit" in my ratings. I have since realized that it is more just to rate within genre. As a mail order bride series this ranks at the top! It isn't housewife porn, it isn't a religious tract, it is what it is.And it's funny, well written and leaves you feeling good.

I came across this series on Amazon one night at work and it introduced me to the whole genre of mail order bride/western historical romance that I did not know existed before. From that time on I've never read a book by Kit Morgan that I haven't enjoyed.

Nowhere's population is growing.I like that Kit Morgan uses the same town's for her books. First clear creek, now nowhere. I also like the humor in the characters. This book started off slowly.

Good 2nd book in series, but a little shorter. Not as much character building for the new characters, but still, a sweet western romance. Will have to wait awhile to get the next book, but definitely will!

Mama orders another brideThe same mother orders a bride for son #2. She means well. Thankfully the brides are friends. This series is just not as good as some others I have read. Debra Holland and Caroline Fyffe, Kristen Osborne.
