I have to say Sherrie is a great author she did her thang with this book I just couldn't put it down. Elise, Aparis and Lakiesha find thereself becoming orphans and had to make it on there own. Elise was the one that found herself wanting more for all of them even if that meet selling drugs to do it.Elise got into the drug business with her man Que, LaKiesha's brother. Later she find herself running the business as the leader of the crew. In the meantime she looking for Ghost that happened to be behind klling LaKiesha and Que's parents and also trying to not have a war with Sago the man she was getting her drugs from. She found her sister Simore after so many years and got her out of the lifestyle she was living. But, while Elise is trying to stay away from trouble trouble came finding its way into her life and Aparis and LaKiesha's as well. As time goes Elise starts to fall inlove again with Trey, Que right hand man. Her there for Elise threw everything. Elise thinks postive about the drug game and turns her money into real business and gets out.I have to say this book is good. It caught me by surprise with so much of the drama in here. These girls are bad to the bone at the begining when they was younger Aparis and LaKiesha wasn't that strong but, as time goes and they getting older they got stronger and did all they can to make it. Even with there friendship, sisterhood they didn't let anything brake them apart and that is what I liked about them.Great book overall I have to give it to Sherrie Walker hope she writes more books cause I will totally buy her next books. :)great read.

I cannot begin to tell you how awful this book is. I can't believe the high ratings other readers have given it. The author thanks her editor at the beginning of the book, which was truly amazing, because by the end I was convinced there had been no editing whatsoever. Between run on sentences, misused words, poor punctuation and grammar (and I am not talking about characters' speech patterns, "naimean?"), I felt as if I was reading a National Novel Writing Month first draft, written by a 7th grader. (Side note: Even the description of the book has a mistake in it here--taken from the back of the book--the orphanage was St. Agnes', not St. Henry's.)An Italian man was described as having skin the color of olive oil. Olive oil is green, people. Two characters had their penises cut off. CUT OFF! The sex scenes were awkward at best. Was I supposed to like Elise (or any of the other characters)? How could anyone like them? I came away feeling like the author has a serious problem with men and that she did absolutely zero research into anything other than high end fashion designers' names.Allow me to quote:"Baby I realize we're only using the game as a stepping stone. Using it to gain capitalize financially towards building our own company. But, until we're are out of the dope game baby, I don't want to have a baby." [sic]I give the book one star because I am definitely inspired by it: I now know that ANYONE can get published.

OK 1ST I WOULD LIKE TO SAY THE BOOK WAS GOOD,BUT I HATED WHEN QUE DIED BECAUSE HE WAS THE DUDE THAT ELISE LOVED VERY MUCH AND OUT OF ALL THE PEOPLE IN THE STORY HE SHOULD HAVE STAYED ALIVE AND ELISE AND QUE WAS THE ONLY PEOPLE THAT WAS IN TO THE GAME LIKE THAT,AND TREY WAS A BACK STABBING PERSON WHO WAS JEALOUS OF EVERYONE HE PLAYED HIS PART OFF GOOD BUT HE DIDN'T HAVE TO GO OFF AND HAVE SOMEONE TO KILL QUE LIKE THAT BECAUSE I HATED WHEN HE GOT QUE KILLED AND HE COULD HAVE JUST SHOT QUE IN THE ARM OR SOMETHING NOT IN THE HEAD AND QUE DID NOT DESERVE TO DIE BECAUSE OF WHAT QUE'S FATHER DID AND TREY'S JEALOUS WAYS BUT IN MY EYES IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN TREY AND THE ONLY PEOPLE THAT WAS SUPPOSE TO DIE BUT THAT'S THE ONLY THING I HATED I WISH THE AUTHOR COULD HAVE CHANGED THAT UP OR SWITCH IT UP LIKE QUE FAKED HIS DEATH OR SOMETHING BUT I HOPE ITS A PART 2 AND I HOPE QUE FAKED HIS DEATH CAUSE I REALLY LIKED HIM THAT'S ALL FOR NOW

I had to think a lot before I started writing this review. I actually liked the book a lot but for some reason it took me longer, much longer, to finish it than it should have. It wasn't lack of time and it wasn't anything I can put my finger on. The book is a good one and the author is very talented- this is all very obvious very early in the book. I will admit to doing something I never do and that is a little bit of skipping. Not much, a sentence here and possible a paragraph or two, but it's skipping nontheless and I normally NEVER skip so much as a word. Mistress of the Game is about a group of friends- the three main chicks are Elise, LaKiesha, and Aparis. There are others in their click that are almost as close as these three but I'd be here all day if I were to include them all. The book is mainly about these three women who all came together as children while living in a group home after all had lived through severe situations no child, or any adult for that matter, should ever be faced with. When the girls get a little older but not yet 18 they get up out of the orphanage and start out on their own. They have their hard times, they have their good times, and through it all they prove their loyalty to those who are loyal to them. There were some surprised, one or two that actually damn near blew me away - just very unexpected to say the least. What happens with Que I never saw coming. The 'major' surprise wasn't much of a surprise for me though- I saw that heading my way in the very beginning. Matter of fact, I think I knew the deal at around the end of the first quarter. I can't say it ruined the book, it didn't, and I enjoyed reading it even though I knew what was going to happen. There was even a point, I think it was sometime around the middle to end of the third quarter that I started second guessing myself but it didn't last long and then I was aware that I had been right all along. All in all, I'd most definitely read another book by Sherrie Walker and I'm sure they'll only get better as they come.

Was really good but a bit on the fake side. Couple things just didn't seem realistic to me, but it was a good read.
