The Portal to Kerberos is the fourth book in the Elementals series by Michelle Madow. The book picks up right where the action left the readers in the third book in the series, The Head of Medusa. The entire series is a fast paced young adult fantasy adventure heavily based on Greek Mythology. In this series we have been introduced to five teens who have elemental powers and have been sent on an adventure to close the portal to Kerberos and save the world. Each book has led to a high intensity action packed adventure along their journey with this latest being no exception to that. I don't want to get into too many details with this being the fourth book in the series but I will say that Michelle Madow has done it yet again, another awesome installment continuing the adventure that started in the first book. Each time I've picked one of these books up I've come to expect to be on the edge of my seat just waiting for the journey to take on another exciting twist. Again the readers are left with a huge cliffhanger in the story to hold them over for the fifth and final book in this series and I just can't wait to see how it will all turn out. I'd definitely recommend checking out the Elementals series. It would be best to start at the beginning with The Prophecy of Shadows since this is one long continuing story and best explained following the books in order although there is a bit of back story to bring a reader back into the action in each. I received an advance copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. For more reviews please visit https://carriesbookreviews.wordpress....

WOW! This action packed, fast paced, young adult fantasy adventure just keeps on being an enthralling, page turner - I can’t wait to get the next book to see how this talented author brings the whole series to a conclusion after reading this, the fourth book in this five book series. The story continues on from where the last book ended - I really think this is one series where it is important to read the books in the correct sequence as most of them end on a cliffhanger that is the starting point for the next book. There are plenty of edge of your seat moments in this episode in the sequence, with help from unexpected quarters and a dangerous journey to be undertaken in an effort to save the world.(Sorry, trying desperately not to reveal any spoilers from this or the previous books!)Throughout the series, the lead characters are the teens and Greek mythology and mythological beings have very important parts to play in the interactions and events. In this story the teens use a portal to access the prison world of Kerberos, facing dangerous creatures, mythological beings and so much more in there quest to retrieve Blake and the Medusa’s head. This is more dangerous than usual for them as their elemental powers won't work in Kerberos. Will they succeed and make it out alive? You’ll have to read it yourself to find out! This is a great series and one I have no hesitation in highly recommending to anyone who enjoys fantasy adventures - even if the reader is, like me, no longer a teen or young adult! I’m now desperately awaiting the release of ‘The Hands of Time’ which will conclude the series….I was gifted a copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review.

My Thoughts: Ms. Madow offers up more exhilarating entertainment, as the Elementals Series continues. With crazy twists and turns, there is never a dull moment in this saga. I enjoyed being on this dangerous journey with Nicole, Danielle, and Chris. In this segment, the primordial deity of darkness, Erebus, is introduced. Erebus will guide Nicole, Danielle and Chris through Kerberos, a dangerous, and pain-inducing world. While he can guide them, he cannot directly help the Elementals. Thankfully, Greek God, Apollo, (Nicole's dad,) has gifted the group with magical weaponry. They must retrieve Medusa's head, and rescue Blake from Demigod Ethan, who betrayed the group. As the Elementals begin their long trek into Kerberos, they will constantly be challenged and put in danger's path. As they travel the Badlands, Whispering Forest, River of Dreams, River of Blood, Jungle, and Mountaintop, how will they survive a world where they have been stripped of their Elemental powers? It was exciting being on this tumultuous journey. I liked getting to know Erebus, and loved watching the connection that formed between Danielle and him. I would love to see these two end up together. He bent the rules a few times, and I have no doubt that she was the reason! My heart hurt for both Nicole and Chris, who had to undertake this terrifying expedition without their significant others; Blake and Kate. Not to mention the fact that as a reader, I missed them too!Ms. Madow is doing a great job of enhancing my love of Greek Mythology. I loved learning about the Titans and Olympians; as well as reading about Primordial Deities, Trolls, Merpeople, The Nemean Lion, Centaurs, Dragons, and other magical creatures. The Elementals Series is so much fun and I recommend it to readers that enjoy reading Greek Mythology. The Portal to Kerberos ended with a bang! I can't wait to read the next segment in the series, The Hands of Time. The Elementals have just been sent by Primordial Diety, Chronos, into the past, and I'm excited to see what happens next!My Rating:I give, The Portal to Kerberos, Elementals #4, by Michelle Madow, 4 Entertaining, Adrenaline-Infused, Dangerous and Magical Journey Filled Stars! *To Read More Book Reviews, Visit

(Source: I would like to thank the author for the e-Arc copy. This will not affect my reviews.)Note: You need to read the book 1-3.The book four of the Elementals series is daunting and enthralling. In this book, Blake and Ethan is in the Kerberos and Nicole together with Danielle, and Chris are going to save Medusa’s head and Blake. But how much is the cost of saving the world?Hold your grip because this 4th book will lead you to a rollercoaster ride – a very moving story. It felt odd because I get used to the 5 characters and now they are only 3 elementals + primordial Nyx, Erebus. Erebus is their guide on the journey to Kerberos because obviously they will not make it alive, its fight or flight. This is by far the difficult journey they had – well for me because they’re incomplete BUT it also shows the abilities most specifically Chris. Remember to my past review of The Head of Medusa when I talked about Chris. HOLY GUACAMOLE!! Since Chris in the book cover –you should probably know that the book cover has a significant meaning on the story. So I will give credits to Chris. LOL! I appreciate him here because a.) I gain respect on him because they’ve been all through a lot BUT on what happened to him here in the book it’s both heroic and tragic. b.) ever since Blake was taken by Ethan, Chris is the only guy left and I get to see most of his sides. (I owe you Chris, LOL)(view spoiler)[Albeit, only 3 elementals left in the story it also shows the bond between Danielle and Nicole. (hide spoiler)]THEY ARE GETTING CLOSER GUYS! I LOVED IT and ITS PRETTY GOOD!!I also appreciate the high spirits of these people. To the fans of the Elementals Series: I guaranteed that this 4th book is one of the most amazeballs story in the series.

3.5/5 StarsI received this book for free from the author in exchange for an honest review. This review may contain spoilers. Read at your own risk.Another exciting installment of the Elementals series! This series is full of action and adventure, and book 4 is no exception! The Portal to Kerberos has been my favorite book of this series thus far! Most of this book is spent inside Kerberos, and the world building has really been upped since the last book. In previous books, the world building is something that was a little lacking. With this book, it has greatly improved. We get more descriptive details about the world we are reading about, so I was stoked. We are introduced to a new character in The Portal to Kerberos. His name is Erebus and he is the primordial deity of darkness. I really enjoyed his character. As the book progressed, I sensed that he and Danielle were interested in one another. If you have been following along with the series, you will know that this book focuses on only three of the five elementals- Nicole, Danielle, and Chris. Danielle has certainly softened up since the first book. At the beginning she was so icy and off-putting. She actually seems normal now, which I like. As with the previous books in this series, the pacing is fast. Although, this time around the world building is much improved.Overall, such a great book and a fun series! If you love fast-paced, quick reads then I would definitely recommend this series! If you love mythology, action, and twists then you will love this!More reviews on my blog: The Alchemy of Ink

    * I would like to thank the author for providing me with an ARC of this book in return for an honest review. Fun! Fun! Fun! It never stops. Each book in this series just gets better and better, and The Portal to Kerberos did not disappoint one single bit. It was so exciting to see these characters finally get to enter the portal of Kerberos and to see all what was waiting them in that dark world. This one, just like all of them, picks up right where they left off. Situations get more intense. Danger is at an all-time high. Betrayal, death, heartache and heartbreak. This one really goes all out. As usual, this book was fast-paced. It kept me engrossed in the story. It was impossible to put down. It was one of those books that were so enjoyable to read that I couldn't believe how quickly I finished it.Things are kept new, fresh, and exciting. There are a ton of new creatures introduced. A ton of obstacles to face and overcome. The plot thickens and there is a HUGE plot twist at the end of this one! It's even bigger than the last book in the series. As always, Michelle leaves us on the edge of our seat with a cliff-hanger that will have you waiting impatiently for the next book...this time we will have to wait, sice sadly book 5 is not out yet. This story was imaginative, full of magic, and by far the best one yet! I truly couldn't have asked for more. It exceeded my expectations for the next book in the series. I am so pumped for the conclusion in the 5th book, but at the same time devastated to see this series end.

Thanks for Michelle Madow for sending me this book in exchange for an honest review**Originally posted @ Miranda's Book Blog**I have been a huge fan of this series since the first book The Prophecy of Shadows. Out of all four books in this series so far, this one is MY FAVORITE! This book, as well as the previous four have been fast-paced, super fun-to-read books! If you are like me and tend to get 'bogged' down by super long chapters, no worries, this book has super short chapters that flow beautifully into one another. Michelle has blown me away with this one, it's even more action-packed and suspenseful than the previous one! Not only are their lives on the line, but the fate of the entire world is in their hands.Oh and I must mention...there are some super cool creatures in this one! My favorite of course are the dragons! Now I know where the term "cliffhanger" comes from because I felt as if I had walked right off into a void and BAM fell off of a cliff when I finished this book. I am so excited that book 5 The Hands of Time comes out in November!! Overall I'd recommend this book to those of you who like mythology, magic and fast-paced books!

First of all, I just want to say thank you to Michelle Madow for giving me an ARC of this book to read in exchange for an honest review. No compensation was given, offered, or taken to alter the opinion.Wow!! My mind is completely blown! That's all I can say! I can't believe that Michelle left us hanging like that at the end!!!! The Portal to Kerberos is another great read in the Elementals series. Back to school has killed this teacher, but once I had time to sit down and read, I finished this book in one sitting. One thing I love about these books is that they pick up right where the previous one left off. We left off with Ethan taking Blake and Medusa's head into the portal to Kerberos. So, it's up to Nicole, Danielle, and Chris to head into Kerberos and rescue Blake. This series never stops surprising and entertaining me. Portal to Kerberos is full of adventure and action that makes for a fun and exciting read. That cliffhanger at the end makes me anxious for November to get here. I cannot wait to read the final book, The Hands of Time!!

Michelle Madow is back with another installment in her Elementals series which contains really great use of Greek mythology and modern day teens. As with book 3, I found this to be a very quick read, in a good way. The story was very well paced, the adventures definitely suspenseful, but once again we were left with a pretty good cliffhanger! You can read the full review at Lisa Loves Literature.

Review:Protagonist: After watching the boy she loves get dragged into a hellish prison world, Nicole will do just about anything to get him back. With one member of their team already lost and the Head of Medusa on the line, the Elementals brave the world of Kerberos to try and set things right in order to save the world. Things in Kerberos aren't like Earth, this is a world designed for torture and difficulties and the quest to save Blake isn't going to be an easy grab and go mission. One of the interesting things about this story is seeing how, with Blake on the line, how impulsive Nicole becomes. She becomes more of a shoot first ask questions later type of girl which adds an interesting dynamic to this quest where Danielle becomes the more level headed one. Of course, all these characters have some sort of development over the course of this quest that strengthens them as heroes of this series.World-Building: This is actually a very hard section to write because the only real world building is showing readers the world of Kerberos, and while it's definitely a terrifying place to be and our heroes don't go through it totally unscathed they do have a bit of help getting through which I feel sort of negates how terrifying this torturous prison world seem to the reader quite a bit. It is interesting to see the Greek Mythological influence of the world grow. We get to see some of the baddies in Kerberos and learn a bit more about the Second Rebellion and the forming of this prison world and its ultimate punishments. There is a tiny bit of romance to this book as well, though it's mostly seen in Nicole's constant urgency to get to Blake, there is a possible new romance blooming for one Elemental in particular.Predictability: Looking back on this adventure I'd have to say that, on the whole, it wasn't that predictable. There are a few reasons for this, firstly is the length of the story and speed of the pacing. With this not only being such a short book, but a fast paced one as well it didn't give me a lot of time to speculate on what would happen next other than the vaguer big picture stuff, and even then I was sorely mistaken. Then there's the fact that this is an author gone rogue, for lack of a better term, she doesn't play by the rules and formulas and that leads to some great twists in this book.Ending: I'm still not sure if I've properly digested this ending, but here's my unfiltered and spoiler-free thoughts. I heard a lot about this ending, all spoiler free other than the intense feelings, and going in I didn't quite know what to expect, I wasn't ready for another crazy dramatic ending like the previous one, and while the final climax of this book is pretty intense, the actual ending of this book is kind of idealistic. I mean it's not a solve every problem with the blink of an eye idealistic, but it's idealistic enough to make me a bit uncomfortable at what was going on. There is a bit of a cliffhanger but it's a lot less stressful than the one at the end of The Head of Medusa.Rating:So, I did really enjoy this book, but I have to say that even though our heroes do face some challenges and go through some really intense stuff, I felt like they could have worked harder and had a tougher time getting through this mess, and the ending was a little too idealistic for my taste.

I received this book from Michelle Madow in exchange for an honest review.First off Michelle Madow is the master of cliffhangers and this book is no different. Probably the best cliffhanger of the series so far which is really saying something! This book was really good not as good as the third though. In this book Nicole, Chris and Danielle go into Kerberos on a journey to rescue Blake and reclaim Medusas head. While this book was action packed, with more action then the other books I believe, to me the journey seemed a little empty? long? the things that happened while different and surprising were a bit expected. To me they came at times when you would expect them to. I guess what I'm attempting to say is that each event happened around the time that you would think it would. None of them came out of nowhere and had me going "whoa! didn't see that one coming!". I guess the closest example I can give to what I'm trying to say is when Harry, Hermione and Ron disapparate from Luna Lovegoods house, apparate at the forest and are almost instantly caught you could see it coming from a mile away. They were bound to get caught soon and it wasn't surprising when it happened. I'm hoping this makes SOME kind of sense. Each event that happened though was extremely interesting and kept my attention.I also loved the new character that came along and I don't want to give any spoilers away but I can't wait to see where his storyline goes especially since we're coming up on the last book!! And I do hope his storyline continues!!! Overall I'm still hooked on this series. I absolutely can't wait to see how it ends. And I'm super excited for the 5th book!!

Thanks to the wonderful author for giving me an ARC in exchange for an honest review. This series never quits surprising and entertaining me. The Portal To Kerberos is fun, exciting and tremendous. At the fourth book, most series will be not quite hot and dull but not with the Elementals series. It is as engrossing and bewitching as the beginning. With it's usual fast paced style, The Portal to Kerberos was another great read in the series. Michelle Madow is one author whose books I always look out for and I am never disappointed. There are quite a few monsters in this book and since I love monsters, That just made this even more interesting. Shape shifting Dragons, Nemean lion, Crazy foxes, flesh eating merpeople, harpies, Centaurs. Starting where the last book ended, The Portal to Kerberos takes us along with the gang as they journey to Kerberos to save Blake and the Head of Medusa from Ethan. With a little godly help, they enter Kerberos and are dropped viciously into a hot realm. Helped by Erebus the primordial diety of darkness, our heroes embark on another sizzling hot journey that makes the series one of my best. Their adventures in Kerberos were nothing short of entertaining and always left me on the edge of my seat. The moments before the ending was heartbreaking but it's worth it eventually. A surprising concept is introduced in a way that made it absolutely exciting. Be prepared for an ending that will leave you thirsting for more. A mixture of Greek mythology, romance, magic, action, adventure and humor, The Portal to Kerberos is a must read for all Young Adult book lovers.P.S The gang gets to ride dragons!!!! Super Cool right?

I was super excited to continue on with this series. Each book before this has been an action packed adventure full of monsters, gods, magic, and mayhem and I knew that The Portal To Kerberos would be just as amazing. I'm so happy to say that it definitely did not disappoint. This book stood up well to those that came before it and I couldn't get enough of it. I was so wrapped up in reading it that I eveb forgot to change it to "Currently Reading" on GoodReads! After the way the last book, The Head of Medusa, ended, I couldn't wait to read this one. I was insanely curious about what was going to happen next and what it would be like once the remaining three entered Kerberos. I was really impressed with how Michelle Madow wrote the prison world and all the twists and turns and monsters and creatures the group had to face. It was fascinating all the different things they had to overcome and how they managed to survive in certain situations and outsmart the inhabitants of the torture realm.I was so upset when I got to the very end of the book because I didn't realize that I was already at the end. I thought I still had a little ways to go and I found myself annoyed because I wanted to keep reading and find out what was going to happen next.I'm extremely eager to get my hands on the next and (I believe) last book in the series, The Hands of Time. I need to know what happens next!Rating: 4 Stars

Still okay, I guess. The book was really short and while there are a lot of trials and adventures and some surprising twists, but I'm still not loving the series the way I want to. Some of the trials were actually really terrifying and I found myself engaged in those a little more, but the characters are pretty one-dimensional and shallow, and I can't help but think they're a little psychopathic, too. They seem a little too trigger-happy, which doesn't feel right with the tone and dialogue, which still doesn't feel natural to me. That said, I did really like a new character named Erebus, who's mysterious and powerful and unpredictable. While Nicole's question about her father does finally get answered, it seemed really out of the blue as well, and then we never came back to it, which was a let down considering the three-book-build-up. I didn't expect the twist at the end, but things keep happening for convenience's sake, and then the book ends really abruptly. I was actually left wondering: Is that really how the author is going to end the book? That said, I'm interested to see how it all pans out. I'm not keeping my hopes too high, but this is is a short read and I don't see the point of turning back now.

DISCLAIMER: I received a copy of this book (via the author) in exchange for honest review. Might contain vague spoilers, but I will try to keep them under the carpet.I cannot believe the fourth book has already ended. And again! Michelle, you are queen of cliffhangers! What would go through your mind if the one you love was taken captive by someone you thought you could trust and thrust through a portal to the one of the underworlds? You would want to do everything in your power to get them back, correct? Well, this is precisely what Nicole is thinking and she downright almost walks through the portal before thinking things through.Kerberos is extremely difficult to navigate. There are obstacles that must be avoided. And instructions that must be followed. Nicole, Danielle and Chris receive some help from a deity, someone who knows his way around very well. Things go a little hay-wire; there is devastation ahead, but it will all work out. This book had me on all sorts of buzz. For one, though I enjoyed reading Greek mythologies and history, I was never one to read such books (such as witches and monsters). This series got me into it. Super fun to read!My blog

orginal review @ starsMY TAKE ON THIS BOOKThe book continues with Nicole in shock after Ethan drags Blake to Kerberos-along with the Medusa's head. This book takes place in Kerberos and is my favorite book of the series coz the world building was AMAZINGG!! We meet Erebus- primordial deity of darkness. I really loved Danielle and Erebus interaction and the maybe a start for a new romance. This book kept on an edge with some unexpected twists and the elementals are constantly challenged throughout this book. There was never a dull moment and I think Michelle did an incredible job with this one!!!CHARACTERS:Nicole- she loves Blake and would do anything to save him. I don't feel she is qualified to lead the group.Blake- we don't see him until the end of the book but I was surprised by a twist.Danielle- we get to see more of Danielle in this book!!!YAY!! Danielle and Erebus-HOT!!!:pChris- helps the group to save Blake and retrieve Medusa's head.Kate- if you haven't read the previous books then go guys need to read it to know about Kate.

DISCLAIMER: I received a copy of this book (via the author) in exchange for honest review. Might contain vague spoilers, but I will try to keep them under the carpet.I must start by saying I really like the way Michelle uses Greek Mythology in this series of books and I like the addition of new characters seen in book 4. I like the way the characters are forced to be strong and endure what is sure to be worse than Hell, but I did not like the way a particular Diety treated Nicole; I felt as though she did not get the credit she deserved for all she has endured in a small amount of time; however, this book was a good, quick, thrilling T&YA read and does an amazing job setting up for the 5th and final book, which I am sure will be the best one of all! I cannot believe how the book ended and that I have to wait even longer to see what happens to our beloved 5 Elementals.

Another Cliffhanger? The Portal to Kerberos is the fourth book in the Elementals series by Michelle Madow and it was amazing!! It picks up right where the third book in the series, The Head of Medusa, ends. This entire series is fast paced, but it just has such a great influence on Greek Mythology. Each book has had it own action packed adventure that is specifically unique. In this book the Elementals have to travel to Kerberos to save Blake after he is taken by Ethan, the son of Zeus.I was on the edge of my seat during this whole book. I can't wait for The Hands of Time to come out. I is going to be great!!

Why do you insist in treating me like this woman?! You mean to destroy us readers with your words! But anyways this book was as amazing or even more than the other three books, the trials the elementals endure during this book where awesome, cruel and wicked since represent the exact meaning of what kerberos means and the why those who enter go crazy. Though those bits at the end I only enjoy two of them because the other one had me hating you for a bit until the Main man came and agreed to help, plus I ship Danielle and the deity and I need the hands of time like naoh! Those sneak peek chapters were pure torture for the soul

Picking up from where part three left off, we're straight back into the action with Nicole and her friends journeying into Kerberos in their attempt to rescue Blake and the head of Medusa. It's a little bit silly on occasion, but the action comes thick and fast and is great fun. The reliance on Greek mythology ups the interest in what happens to Nicole and her friends. There's a lot going on, and on this occasion Madow seems to focus a little more on describing the world they're in which was welcome. A lot of people say if something isn't broken it doesn't need fixing. This novel follows a tried and tested formula, but it works, and it looks like part five will be very interesting.

Full Review at: What's Beyond Forks? It seems like their tasks get more and more impossible with each book. We get to meet new characters and new creatures this time, both good and bad, and some? I'm not so sure of. There was non-stop action and dangers on their journey through Kerberos. This may be my favorite of the series so far. It's definitely neck and neck with the first book, but for very different reasons. The ARC The Portal to Kerberos by Michelle Madow was kindly provided to me by the author for review. This series is getting more and more exciting. I can't wait to read final book. :) This one starts from where we left off in book 3. Three remaining Elementals are about to enter Kerberos to save Blake and get Medusa's head back.Kerberos is full of dangers, at every turn there is a creature ready to harm them. They can't trust anyone or anything there. What more, they can't even use their powers so how are they going to succeed in their mission? Read to fine out. I am sure you won't be disappointed.I loved it! Thanks to the author for providing complementary copy of this book.

I'll admit this is my first time with this series so jumping straight in i was a little lost as it obviously picks up right as the last book ended but by the second chapter i was hooked. in fact i couldn't put it down...they travel to the underworld to save a friend, they are on a journy to save the world...i'm definitely going to have to go back and get the first 3 books...i've read other books by this author and wasn't disappointed i also get the feeling one of the gods of chaos will be showing up in later books as a romance was blooming

I received an advanced copy of this book from the author in return for an honest review.Another quick and riveting read! Action packed and wickedly creative! I'm in awe of the ideas for creatures, torments, location descriptions that the author came up with for Kerberos. So fantastically inventive! Can't wait to read the next book in the series to see what happens!

I'm still loving this series. It just jumps right into the action. Which I love because I can get bored easily with books in the beginning. It really keeps me interested. I'm so glad that I already have the last book because the ending on this one was epic. I just hope the conclusion to the series is amazing.

Ahhhhhhhh! I need book 5 now! Once again I was left wanting more. The story ended with only enough information for me to know that I will be reading the next book. There was more mythology to learn. More creatures to imagine, and more adventure than the characters thought they would be getting.
