music for mohini Reviews
Bless you, Constance. I had done an Internet search a couple of years ago and found nothing. I read this many, many times in the '60s, poring over it and trying to read between the lines - imagine a book about a girl being married and trying to have a child without any sex in it! And the emphasis on knitting - thought that was so strange but now realise it is an authentic detail. I got this book as a discard from the Boston Public Library. A family friend was a retired policeman who worked as a guard there. Discarded books were supposed to be destroyed, but he saved a very few for me because everyone knew that I could never get enough of reading. I rememeber him with love - tall, skinny, impossibly old it seems to me - Mr. O'Connell.
I read it when I was doing my Masters, and in a way it changed my perspective of marriage and love. I regret that I lost this book, and I am unable to get a copy.
